Last drinks for motorcycle club?

ANTI-BIKIE laws have come to bear on a Murray Bridge motorcycle group in what the club is calling an attack on its reputation.

The Murray Bridge chapter of the Longriders Christian Motorcycle Club claims it was told it would be denied a limited liquor licence for a regular open night on November 13 because the application had been received late and because the Longriders had associated with outlaw bikies at a poker run earlier this year.

Stand for Something or Fall for Anything

An interesting article by a full patch member of God's Squad CMC relating his experience of being arrested (wrongfully) and his subsequent aquittal.

It's really quite frightening what happened to him and the "powers" the police were able to use.

You can read the article on the United Motorcycle Council NSW web site.

Statement by Mark Le Grand on the Proposed Criminal Organisations Bill

The proposed bikie gang laws in Queensland are deeply concerning on two bases, first, the proposed laws would lead to the abrogation of basic legal rights which have been central to the operation of the common law for hundreds of years, including the fundamental right to a fair trial, and second, that there is little evidence that these laws are required in Queensland or that they are likely to be effective.

Keep the motor running

Dylan Welch of the Sydney Morning Herald has written an interesting article about how Oz bikers are fighting back against Australia's Anti-Association Laws.

Dylan Welch takes an insider's look at the battle waged by bikies against a government crackdown.

Inside a small Penrith church hall a sign reads ''in case of emergency dial triple-0''. The hard men sitting nearby are unlikely to heed the message. More likely, they would be the emergency that necessitates the call.

Next to the sign, empty pizza boxes and soft drink cans are scattered across a rectangle of hastily arranged foldable desks. Blue plastic chairs creak under the weight of 38 leather and flannelette-clad men.

Rebels, Finks and Christians join up

Posted on September 24, 2009 | Filed Under Biker News | Comments Off

More news from OZ on the Anti-Association Laws and how some of the clubs are responding:-

OUTLAW bikie gang members banded together with Christian bikers to fight the State Government over its Criminal Organisation legislation at a media conference last week.

At last Friday’s conference the Brotherhood of Christian Motorcycle Club was joined by members of outlaw groups Rebels and Finks Motorcycle Clubs in a rare public display of unity, to discuss the legislation.

Brotherhood CMC spokesman Greg Pendlebury said the Crimes Act and Amendments 2009 is unfair and undemocratic.

“We oppose knee jerk legislation which we feel takes away the basic legal rights of groups in Australia,” Mr Pendlebury said.

“Existing criminal law in Australia is sufficient to deal with any criminal activity within society or the motorcycle community.”

He said the new Criminal Organisations Control legislation does not mention bikers, and can be used to silence any group including religious denominations, environmental groups or trade unions.

“We are proud to stand together with 17 other clubs on this issue and fight the government’s introduction of anti-association legislation,” Mr Pendlebury said.

“The United Motorcycle Club will also provide a forum for the peaceful resolution of any issues between member clubs.”

The Crimes (Criminal Organisations Control) Act 2009 was introduced following highly publicised incidents involving bike clubs.

Brotherhood CMC is a non-violent, law abiding group of Christian motorcyclists focused on community outreach.

Australia’s Anti-Association Laws

Posted on August 6, 2009 | Filed Under Biker News | Comments Off

The newly introduced “Anti-Association Laws” in New South Wales, Australia have been described as draconian and unfair. The law, while not directly naming bikers, has been introduced to combat the perceived threat of “Outlaw” bike clubs on society. Basically if you’re a member of a patch club the police can apply to the courts for an order to ban members from associating with one another. Break this law and you face up to five years in prison! The laws came into effect in April allowing the state's police commissioner to apply to the courts for the declaration of specific bikie clubs as illegal.
